Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 16, 2026
Twinto ("we," "our," "the app") lets people record short video clips for each other, which we combine into a single gift reel revealed to the honoree on a specific occasion. This policy explains what information we collect to make that work, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account info: your phone number (used to sign in via a one-time code), and optionally an email address, display name, username, and profile photo.
- Contacts (optional): if you allow it, we check your phone contacts against people already using Twinto so you can add them as friends. Phone numbers are matched privately on your device and are never uploaded or stored as raw numbers.
- Camera & microphone: used only when you actively record a video clip to contribute to someone's gift reel.
- Content you create: video clips, profile and cover photos, comments, likes, and the occasions/gift reels you create or contribute to.
- Device & push notification data: a device token so we can notify you about friend requests, occasions, and when a reel you contributed to is ready.
- Usage data: basic technical logs (app version, request timestamps) used to keep the service reliable and secure.
How we use this information
- To create your account and let you sign in.
- To let you find friends, create occasions, contribute clips, and receive the gift reels made for you.
- To compile contributed clips into a single reel and deliver it on the right occasion.
- To send push notifications you'd reasonably expect (friend requests, reel-ready alerts) — never marketing you haven't asked for.
- To review reported content for policy violations and keep the community safe.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with advertisers. We use a small number of service providers to run the app — cloud hosting for storage and video processing, and Firebase (Google) for phone sign-in and push notifications. These providers only receive what's necessary to perform those functions.
Content you contribute to someone else's gift reel is, by its nature, visible to the honoree and to whoever else that occasion is shared with — that's the point of the app, and it's made clear in the app before you record anything.
Your choices
- Camera, microphone, and contacts access are all optional and requested only when needed — you can decline or revoke them in your device settings at any time.
- You can edit your profile, change your visibility settings, or block another user directly in the app.
- You can request an export of your data or delete your account at any time from the app's settings; deleting your account removes your profile and content from active use.
Data retention
We keep your content for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Raw, unprocessed video clips are retained only as long as needed to compile a reel and are then removed on a regular cleanup schedule.
Children's privacy
Twinto is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
